Curriculum

The School is offering the following subjects to students:

Chinese Language and Culture: This subject includes Chinese Language and Chinese History. The two subjects are combined to provide a better insight of Chinese culture to students.

English Studies: With the implementation of small-class teaching and learning, students will get to speak and share ideas more frequently. Using a task-based teaching and learning approach, we train students to be more confident in using English. Students are going to meet their Native-speaking English teacher (NET) around 3 lessons a week. More in-depth discussion on cultures of English-speaking countries will also be included.

Mathematics: To promote self-directed learning, students are required to preview and review particular topics every day. Sudden quizzes are given to students frequently to assess students’ understanding. Moreover, cooperative learning is promoted to strengthen students’ problem solving skills. The mathematics department also runs reading project, bi-monthly competitions, mathematics corner and Olympiad courses to enrich the students with more mathematics learning experiences outside the classroom.

Integrated Humanities: A school-based curriculum will be developed to enable students to understand themselves, society and the world at large. Different teaching and learning approaches will be used to enable students to construct knowledge, skills, values and attitudes.

Integrated Science: Group activities and cooperative learning are used in teaching this subject. Through games and activities, the importance of science to everyday life will be promoted and highlighted in order to raise students’ interest in this subject.

Visual Arts: The school-based Visual Arts course focuses on art history, creative thinking and techniques. Besides the normal classes, the course is taught through visiting art exhibitions and dialogues with artists. We shall invite local artists to co-teach with our visual arts teacher in order to widen students' exposure to art. These experiences can raise students’ creativity and their appreciation level. We also have the sharing of students’ art works which can improve their critical thinking and self-confidence. We want our students to enjoy art and feel relaxed in our Visual Arts course.

Music: Choir and instrumental classes are organized to widen students’ exposure to music. Students are also provided with opportunities to attend concerts.

Physical and Health Education: This subject helps develop students’ fundamental movement and knowledge of safety and health. Generic skills like collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking are developed through various types of performances and competitions.
