Cathay Pacific Visit 2011
Q: How much do you know about the aviation industry in Hong Kong?

Cathay Pacific is the flag carrier of Hong Kong. The airline's operations include scheduled passenger and cargo services to 114 destinations in 36 countries worldwide. Its wholly owned subsidiary, Dragonair, operates to 29 destinations in the Asia-Pacific region from its Hong Kong base.
The airline was founded on 24 September 1946 by an American and an Australian who were ex-air force pilots who had flown the Hump, a route over the Himalayan mountains, with each man putting up HK$1 to register the airline.

When we first arrived, the staff gave us a talk on the history of Cathay Pacific and the job requirements to be one of the members in the aviation industry.

After that, we visited the simulated aircraft cabin of Boeing 777! This can simulate different weather situations such as snowing and high wind speed!

We also engaged in the simulated cabin activities and learnt about the emergency escape procedures! Do you know that there are several inflatable boats hidden above the exit doors of a plane?

Role-playing: It was fun to pretend the airline crews or passengers!

Staff members of Cathay Pacific can reserve the sports facilities and staff hotel in the Cathay Pacific City!

We have an enjoyable day and some of us are full of passion to work for the aviation industry!

The picture above shows that the twins who cherish to work in the aviation industry when they were small are now working for the Cathay Pacific Airline and Dragon Air respectively!
