Activities from last year (08-09) -- Cantonese Opera

Cantonese opera is a special form of local art handed down to us from our grannies. It is enjoying a renaissance fueled by our younger generation. HLC students got a taste of the centuries-old art at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, with demonstration performed by young students and teachers who are passionate in learning the art form. Students tried the costumes, learnt some basic skills of Cantonese opera, specifically in the fundamental areas in singing, acting, reciting and arming. In the eyes of the students, it is something very local, deep in scale yet interesting to know.
