2011 is the centenary of the 1911 Revolution, the epoch-making event in the modernization and transformation of China. To assist their learning in modern Chinese History and celebrate this event, a total of twenty six Secondary Five students from History and Chinese History classes paid a visit to the Hong Kong Museum of History on the exhibition of “Centenary China’s 1911 Revolution” on 12 March, 2011.
Students’ reflections after the museum visit: After the visit to the Museum, I found that we can access to the historical events through different media. We are able to study the 1911 Revolution not only from the textbooks, but also from the cartoons, photographs and newspaper of the time. The exhibition has surely enriched my knowledge of the 1911 Revolution, so that I will recommend my friends to visit it as well, as the 1911 Revolution is a significant event in Chinese History. Hong Kong also played an important role in this part of history. Marcus Man 5B Time flies, this year is the centenary of China's 1911 Revolution which was considered a remarkable historical event overthrowing the rule of the Qing. We have learnt a lesson from the history. The exhibition does not merely focus on the revolution itself, but also the events associated with it, such as the causes, courses, impact and even significances of the 1911 Revolution. All these benefit the visitors a lot. Besides, at the end of the visit, the exhibition provides some worksheets to the students for applying what they have learnt. Lillian Fung 5B |
