The Celebration of the School’s Foundation Day—the Round-the-School Race December 11th 2009

The Round-the-School Race is the tradition of HLC to celebrate its Foundation Day. Mr Poon, the Principal, inaugurated the Round-the-School Race by presenting, to great applause, the Captains of the Four Houses with their respective flags. He then encouraged members of the House Committees to lead their houses to even greater success during the current academic year. The Round the School Race itself was instigated by Mr Poon and represents the forward thinking attitude of the school.

In imitation of the 2009 East-Asian Games held in Hong Kong, a Mini Torch Relay then took place with the torch bearers being the Principal, the Vice-Principal, the parents of Vicky Yan (1A) and Tong Chi Hin (1C), Ms Coey Woo, Mr Tony Wei, and students Jessica Lai (3C) and Winnie Kong (2A).  The Torch Relay not only promoted the East-Asian Games, but also symbolized the spirit of the school as manifested year after year by teachers, parents and students.

All students performed well with the eventual Champion of C Grade being 1A with 2D as 1st runner-up. 3A was the Champion of B Grade closely followed by 1st runner-up, 3D. The celebration peaked with the House—PTA relay, the prize for which, ‘The 60th Anniversary of the Establishment of Peoples’ Republic of China Cup had been generously donated by Yuen Long District Council. Ms Fung Choi-Yuk, MH presented the cup to the winner, Probity and the 1st runner-up prize to Sagacity.
