Our first sports day

On 14 February we had a special way to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We held our first sports day at Tin Shui Wai Sports Ground. A few days before the event we couldn’t help but worrying we might be frozen to death. Yet as things turned out, we had a temperature in double digit and the sun even came out for a while in the morning.

All the events went on smoothly despite some being overrun. From sprinting to high jump, from relay to shot put, athletes competed in high spirits, well supported by their cheering teams. Though we might not have set very impressive records, participation was most encouraging and it was a day filled with laughter, excitement and a lot of fun.

Apart from staff and students, we were grateful for over 20 parents who came to serve as volunteers or to cheer athletes up. They were led by the chairperson of our Parent-Teacher Association Preparatory Committee, Mrs. Eunice Chan.

The highlight of the events was the parents-teachers-students relay. It was a demonstration of team work between the three constituents of HLC. People were surprised to see how fast some teachers and parents ran.

To celebrate the successful completion of the day, we had Professor Wong Hoi-kwok, chairman of the School Management Committee, to address the athletes and to present trophies to winners. Also present was Ms Yolanda Chiu, our Supervisor.

Here are some snapshots of the most memorable moments of the sports day:
