Assembly on 9 May 2008

In a usual Friday assembly came an unusual musician. Dr. Connie Wong may be unusually gifted; she has finished her PhD of ethnomusicology in a famous US university and now she is teaching at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. One thing that we are certain is, however, she possesses faith to life which is unusual and unique. She was born with only three fingers in each hand. Her mother was suffered from German measles when she was carrying Connie in her womb. Connie’s hands have fewer fingers than most others. She received many surgeries and made two more of her fingers. With eight fingers, Connie struggled and eventually succeeded in becoming a musician. During the assembly, Connie shared her story of growing up and fighting against her incompleteness to make her dream comes true. Towards the end of the assembly, she performed a song for us which moved everyone’s heart.
